Nashville, Tenn. – On March 10th, State Senator Ferrell Haile (R-Gallatin) was recognized with the prestigious Douglas Henry Public Official of the Year Award during Child Advocacy Days, hosted by the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth (TCCY).

“Senator Douglas Henry set the standard for what it means to serve with integrity and compassion,” said Haile. “I am truly honored to receive an award that bears his name. Supporting Tennessee’s children and families is one of the most important responsibilities we have, and I remain committed to advancing policies that protect and strengthen our communities.”

The award, named in honor of longtime legislator Douglas Henry, is presented annually to a public official who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and a strong commitment to improving the lives of children and families across the Volunteer State. Henry, who passed away in 2017, remains the longest-serving member in Tennessee legislative history and is widely remembered for his decades of dedicated public service.

The Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth is a state agency dedicated to improving the well-being of Tennessee’s children and families. Through research, advocacy, and collaboration with policymakers and community partners, TCCY works to inform sound public policy, strengthen child-serving systems, and ensure that every child in Tennessee has the opportunity to thrive.
